Oats Chilla recipe | Healthy & Easy No-Rice Breakfast or Dinner

You can quickly prepare oats chilla, an Indian breakfast dish, using items you already have at home. Ideal for both weight loss and dinner.

When I want to avoid rice or heavy meals, I frequently make oat chilla for dinner or lunch instead of breakfast.

Ingredients

1 cup of oats I used rolled oats, but any kind will do.

¼ cup Gram flour Besan, Split chickpea flour

1 Onion Finely chopped

½ cup Cabbage Finely chopped

2 tablespoon Capsicum Finely chopped

2 tablespoon Carrot Finely chopped

1 teaspoon Ginger Finely chopped

1 Green chilli Finely chopped

2 tablespoon Coriander leaves Finely chopped

¼ teaspoon Red chilli powder

¼ teaspoon Roasted cumin seeds powder

⅛ teaspoon Turmeric

⅛ teaspoon Black pepper powder

⅛ teaspoon Asafoetida

2 pinches Cooking soda Optional

Salt as needed

Instructions

Powder oats

1.If you use fine flour, the texture could become overly soft.

2.Start by coarsely powdering the oats in a mixer or blender.

Chilla batter

In a mixing dish, combine powdered oats, besan, spices, veggies, salt, cooking soda, and additional ingredients.¼ teaspoon powdered red chili, ¼ teaspoon Powdered roasted cumin seeds, 1 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp black pepper powder, and 1 tsp asafoetida

Then, mix roughly before adding water.

Next, whisk in 1 cup water to create a thick batter.

To produce batter, gradually add ½ cup water after thoroughly mixing without lumps.

Now, put this away to rest for ten minutes.

Then, to loosen the batter, add an additional ¼ cup of water. consistency similar to that of idli dosa batter.

Make oats chilla:

1.First, heat a tawa and smear with a small amount of oil. Avoid getting too hot. Pour a ladle full of oat chilla batter over a low flame. Spread a little.

2.Cook covered if desired. It takes about a minute.

3.Drizzle oil over if needed before flipping.

4.Cook over low or medium heat for a further minute. For uniform cooking, lightly press.

5.Oats chilla is ready. Repeat to finish all.

Notes

  • You are able to prepare the batter. In reality, you may make it like paniyaram in an appe pan. For fluffier results, add ¼ teaspoon of Eno.
